Egg stuffed with french fries and other Easter highlights – 03/04/2023 – Marcelo Katsuki

A chocolate egg filled with potato chips may seem strange – and it is. But I’ll tell you: it was one of the tastiest eggs I’ve ever eaten. The Batatinha egg by Mica Chocolates has a milk chocolate shell, cashew nut duja with caramelized white chocolate and small pieces of potato chips, which leave the filling with points of crunch and add a salty touch. Great! The large egg (420 g) costs R$180 and can be purchased here. There are other options like the egg with red fruit crunch and the one made with salted caramel and sablé biscuits.
And what is the duja? I went to research and found out that it is a paste made from an oleaginous plant, which can be peanuts, pistachios or chestnuts. Gianduja is a duja made from hazelnuts (and if I’m wrong, please correct me).

Chocolat du Jour, which always brings creations with very high quality chocolates and refined aesthetics, launched a book-catalog with the rabbit Du, called “The best Easter of my life”. In it, the character recounts his relationship with the brand and talks about his visit to the cocoa farm in southern Bahia to then comment on the backstage of the production of releases and also the company’s classics. The Ovo Barra – Brigadeiro (80 g/R$65) is made with 45% chocolate and is filled with brigadeiro made from fine cocoa. Among the novelties, the Ovo Choco Pane (900 g/R$ 630) features a cut-out image of a dove in the shell, and in the filling, pieces of panettone covered with chocolate, a product that is a hit at the end of the year. Another highlight are the Penguin-shaped eggs, sold in three sizes (270 g/R$ 368 the smallest). But why penguins and not rabbits? Ferrero Rocher, which recently underwent a makeover in its visual identity, highlights for this Easter its Ferrero Rocher egg in a 137 g box (photo), which has three units of the famous bonbon inside and has a suggested price of R$ 54 .99. This egg is made of milk chocolate and has pieces of hazelnut. Another highlight is the Ferrero Rocher Dark Easter Egg 225g, made with dark chocolate 50% cocoa, hazelnut pieces and suggested price of R＄89.99. For those who like bonbons, the tip is the Ferrero Collection (photo), which brings 12 different units of bonbons, including the Raffaello and the Ferrero Rondnoir. Ofner has reformulated the packaging and bet on two launches: Baileys Chocolate Egg (300g/R$ 159) which combines milk chocolate and Belgian caramel chocolate with Bailey’s Irish cream filling. The other novelty is the crunchy chocolate Flakes Frutas Vermelhas (photo – 300g/R$ 149) filled with milk chocolate with black tea, red fruits and crunchy corn flakes. For children, the tip is the line Kids with Dragê Egg (300 g/R$ 119), guaranteed success among the little ones, containing a chocolate egg covered with the brand’s traditional dragé. The Ovo Choco Boom (150 g/R$65.00) has half a milk chocolate shell and the other half of white chocolate, while the Memory Game (90 g/R$49.90) brings mini milk chocolate tablets with figurines and comes with a memory game.

Lu Chocolates is a company specialized in fine sweets and cakes for parties and this year it launched an Easter collection to make the whole family happy. One of the products that most impressed me was Cocoa de Corte (photo), which has a chocolate shell in the shape of a fruit. Made with Belgian chocolate, it has a pistachio brigadeiro filling and red fruit ganache. It costs R$168 and comes in reinforced packaging with an acetate display. The Gift box brings six mini chocolate bunnies stuffed with Nhá Benta and costs R$ 118, making it perfect for gifting. Lindt has launched a fun Gold Bunny metallic suitcase, its chocolate bunny. It brings the classic rabbit accompanied by eggs in milk chocolate and hazelnut flavors and is a great gift option – and not just for children. It costs R$ 145.90 and contains 235 g of chocolate. Another highlight for this Easter is the Truffled Lindt Egg, which combines the delicacy of the chocolate shell with a creamy milk chocolate truffle filling. The egg has 450 g and costs R$ 169.90. Confectioner Marilia Zylbersztajn created a dessert especially for Easter: the 70% chocolate cheesecake, with chocolate syrup and base. The sweet has a creamy texture, just the right amount of sweetness and has yogurt in the dough, which gives it a slight acidity. It is sold in two sizes: 23 centimeters (R$ 200 / 10 to 12 pieces) and 28 centimeters (R$ 290 / 15 to 16 pieces) and is available for orders and ready delivery.
