Stock market rises 1.8% and reaches highest level since late January

On a day of optimism in the global market, the dollar again fell below R$ 5 and reached the lowest value in just over two weeks. The Stock Exchange (B3) rose almost 2% and reached the highest level since the end of January.

The commercial dollar ended this Friday (2) sold at R$ 4.953, down R$ 0.054 (-1.07%). The price started the session stable, but plummeted after the opening of the North American market. At the low of the day, around 11 am, the coin was sold at R$ 4.94.

At the lowest value since May 17, the dollar has dropped by 2.37% in the first two trading sessions of June. In 2023, the currency fell by 6.19%.

Rising Stocks

In the stock market, the day was also marked by euphoria. The B3 Ibovespa index closed at 112,558 points, up 1.8%. The indicator reached the highest level since January 31, boosted by shares of mining and oil companies, which rose on the back of favorable economic data in the Chinese economy.

With the gains of the last two days, the Ibovespa marked the sixth consecutive week of increase. This is the best accumulated performance since the period between early November and mid-December 2020, when the global financial market reacted to the election of US President Joe Biden and the beginning of the recovery of economic activity after the most acute of the covid-19 pandemic.

Across the planet, the global financial market had a day of respite. In the United States, the approval by the Senate of the agreement that extends the public debt ceiling for two years eliminated the tensions accumulated in recent days.

Fees

Even with the disclosure that the United States generated more jobs than expected in May, bets have increased that the Federal Reserve (Fed, North American Central Bank) will keep interest rates between 5% and 5.25% per annum in the next meeting. In China, the preparation of measures to stimulate the real estate market resulted in appreciation of commodities (primary goods with international quotation), which benefited emerging countries such as Brazil.
