Winner of several awards, the documentary 5 Houses won a special session in Caxias do Sul this Wednesday (1st), at 7:30 pm, in Sala Ulysses Geremia (Rua Luiz Antunes, 312). In his first feature, the director and visual artist from Rio Grande do Sul, Bruno Gularte Barreto, travels to his past in the interior of the state, finding life stories, with his own as a guiding thread. The session is free.
In Dom Pedrito, which, like the name, is a small town in the interior of RS, there are five houses and five stories, which blend into one. The distinct narratives of these anonymous people paint a picture of a country marked by erasures and inequality. Director and narrator of the film, Bruno lost his mother and father in childhood to cancer, a disease that plagues the city due to the unbridled use of pesticides in the region. Now, twenty years later, Bruno revisits his hometown and his memories, and goes beyond to bring to light urgent and emblematic issues of contemporary Brazil.
