São Paulo’s musical programming has gained new features in recent months. Concentrated in the most central region, cultural spaces specialize in different styles, such as samba, disco and jazz, with snacks and drinks. See below a roadmap with five options.
Alma SP has piano nights and art meetings in Pinheiros
Opened six months ago, Alma is the third unit of the duo Eduardo Matos and Thomas Von Hertwig, but the first in the capital. The two-story building has musical programming throughout the week.
The idea is that even the most popular genres are experienced in a unique way. Therefore, the partners created projects such as the Soul Session group, which plays on Mondays. Tuesday nights are filled with jazz, while Wednesdays welcome rap and hip-hop singers.
Piano nights take place on Thursdays; In them, a scenographic grand instrument occupies the center of the ground floor of the house, and the public is arranged around the artist, who plays his own electric piano. Fridays and Saturdays are the days when the house hosts more than one show. On Sundays, the place organizes samba circles. Later this week, it hosts meetings on philosophy and art.
To accompany the presentations, it is possible to order starters, such as the portion of tapioca dice (R$ 30), or snacks, served in portions of 5 mini-burgers (R$ 50). To drink, the house offers classic drinks, signature drinks, wines, beers, shots and non-alcoholic cocktails.

Chorinho takes the lunch trail in Boca, in Santa Cecília
Boca Cultural operates as a restaurant, bar and music venue, with a varied schedule from Tuesday to Sunday since the beginning of February. The attractions play forró, MPB, samba and black music, with no defined day for each style. On Sundays, the chorinho provides the soundtrack for lunch.
Anyone who enters the house is faced with tables for two or four people and a counter. There, you can choose between starters (from R$25), sandwiches (from R$26) or main dishes inspired by traditional Brazilian cuisine.
The menu features vegetable couscous (R$31), seafood pirão (R$45), heart of palm moqueca (R$41) and other options called “combocas”, a pun on the container in which they are served.
Further ahead, still in the first room, is the house bar, which serves glasses of wine, beer and classic and signature drinks, such as a version of the Moscow mule that uses Kariri cachaça instead of vodka (R$ 27). Separated by a glass wall with curtains, the space that goes to the back of the house is a second room with a stage, where the performances take place. The two spaces can operate together or separately and accommodate 96 people seated or 300 standing.

DJ Cub returns to action in space with cinema room and sushi bar
The 19th century blue mansion in the city center, which once housed the Maria José school, is the new address of one of the precursors of alternative rock in São Paulo. DJ Club, opened in 2000 in Jardins, is back in business after closing its doors during the pandemic. Entrance to the site costs R$40 — or R$80 with consumption.
Renamed the DJ Club Complex, the new space has three dance floors, a cinema room, a room for band rehearsals, a warehouse with a stage for shows and a gourmet space, which has a sushi bar, pizzeria, hamburger restaurant and special pasta shop. .
The inauguration takes place this Friday (1st), starting at 10pm, with a party featuring classics from all eras, Hi-Fi, the club’s traditional Friday party. In addition, the house also opens on Thursdays with the Disco Fever party, featuring music from the 1990s, and on Saturdays, with Sound, an indie and alternative rock night.

Lord Byron dedicates himself to techno and house music in the Republic
Until February, the space where Lord Byron now operates was a pizzeria, but after renovations that removed the furniture to make room for a dance floor, it became a club dedicated to DJing.
Open on Fridays and Saturdays, from 9pm to 2am, with entry options with consumption (for R$40, two beers) or without drinks (R$20). Promotions with other access options are announced on the social media profile.
The club was named in honor of the English poet of the same name, an icon of literary romanticism. A painting by the writer hangs behind the DJ space, which features setlists with variations of house music and techno.
The decor includes colorful tiles and antique furniture, all under club lighting. The club only offers drinks with classic drinks such as caipirinha (R$ 25), negroni (R$ 35) and mojito (R$ 35), as well as a signature drink, the Lord Byron (R$ 37), made with orange juice, rum and Campari.

Dois-Dois combines samba circles and bars in Campos Elíseos
Opened at the end of 2023 by Rafael Eid Falanga, who participated in the creation of Casa Barbosa and Funilaria, the space mixes the structure of a concert hall with a bar in a recently renovated warehouse.
The highlight of the address is the stage that is surrounded by the public. From it, speakers and lights hang in a metal circle that recover the idea of a roda — an important element for a house that has samba as its main attraction.
Able to accommodate up to 550 people, the space is ideal for dancing, chatting, snacking or even playing foosball and pool. Entry is free, says Falanga, the creator, because Dois-Dois is committed to access to culture.
Still without a regular schedule, the circles take place between Friday and Sunday, starting at 8pm. There are events planned, such as a party for the International Theater Show on March 8, but you need to keep an eye on the venue’s social media to find out the times.
With nine options, the menu is inspired by the bar, with dishes such as pastry (R$ 35), rib croquette with cassava (R$ 37) and gorgonzola cupcake (R$ 31). On the alcoholic side, the bar has beers and drinks. There are classic versions such as fitzgerald (R$35) and caipirinha (R$25) but also original versions. It’s worth trying the tuiuiu, a blue drink that contains vodka, curaçao liqueur, lemon soda and pieces of grapefruit (R$ 32).
