Bar do Manacá is one of the good news this summer on the north coast of São Paulo – more precisely, in Camburizinho, São Sebastião. The new venture by chef Edinho Engel, who also runs the Amado restaurant, in Salvador, Bahia, occupies a property next to the walkway that gives access to the Manacá restaurant, which is completing 33 years. The building was completely reformulated, enhancing the free areas with tables on the verandas, and gardens designed by the landscaper Gil Fialho.

For this new venture, Edinho teamed up with the experienced Mauricio Cavalcante (ex-Pìu and Piccolo); to create the menu, he brought in Bahian chef Danilo Fernandes, who created creative starters and snacks with authorial touches. Be sure to try the delicious crackling with ginger molasses (R$26) and the crispy tuna toast with nori mayonnaise and pickles (R$29). The skewers, such as the eringy mushroom and grilled cavaquinha served with sour cream and Mujol roe are also great. But what causes sighs when it arrives at the table is the Picadinho de mignon, which comes in a beautiful iron pan garnished with colored quail eggs, crispy cabbage and crackling farofa (R$ 72). These are dishes made for sharing, as well as the half-cured cheese and cassava fonduta balls (R$28) and the Crispy tenderloin cup mini burger with barbecue sauce and coleslaw (R$28). The homemade coconut milkshake (R$32) is the kind of dessert you won’t want to share with anyone, I guarantee it.

The cocktail shop, another strong point of the restaurant, is also worth mentioning in the new annex. Bianca Petrillo is responsible for mixologist and bartender, who created cocktails such as the Lavander Highball (R$49), which contains whiskey, lavender cordial, lemon juice, coconut water and the G&T Manacá (R$52) with gin , beetroot syrup with basil and tonic water. For those who prefer non-alcoholic drinks, the suggestion is the Virgin Mary (R$ 32), a tomato juice seasoned with bacon salt, Worcestershire sauce, tabasco and lemon juice. In addition to drinks, Bar do Manacá offers wines by the glass, beers, juices, soft drinks and a list of spirits with many options.
