Dilma endorsed nomination for command of Eletronuclear – 05/12/2023 – Panel SA

Former president Dilma Rousseff was the guarantor, along with Lula, of the nomination of lawyer Raul Lycurgo Leite for the presidency of Eletronuclear. The company was incorporated into a new state-owned company after the privatization of Eletrobras.

Interlocutors of the PT claim that Dilma complied with the request of Fernando Pimentel, former governor of Minas Gerais and political godfather of Lycurgo.

Formally appointed to the position by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, Lycurgo will have the mission given by the government to conclude Angra 3, a nuclear power plant that still needs R$ 15 billion, according to preliminary calculations, to be ready.

In Congress, however, the nomination has been questioned, especially by members of the Nuclear Energy Parliamentary Front. They claim that Lycurgo has no experience in this area.

Lycurgo is a lawyer, was a federal attorney at the Advocacia-Geral da União (AGU) from 2002 to 2017, and legal director of Cemig, the state-owned energy company in Minas Gerais, between 2015 and 2017, during the government of Fernando Pimentel.
