The Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) announced this Friday (27) the opening of two investigations to investigate the situation of Americanas. The autarchy will investigate possible use of privileged information (insider trading) and possible irregularities in negotiations with assets issued by the company.

The administrative inquiries initiated will be conducted by the CVM’s Superintendence of Sanctioning Processes (SPS), the municipality said in a note. On the 11th, the company announced a BRL 20 billion shortfall in accounting inconsistencies. Americanas is in the process of judicial recovery. The autarchy also opened administrative processes in different superintendencies and areas of activity.

The processes will be used to investigate any irregularities in the dissemination of news, relevant facts and announcements; the conduct of the company, reference shareholders and management; complaints received through the autarchy’s service channels. In addition, they will investigate the performance of intermediaries as leading coordinators in public offerings for the distribution of securities issued by the company; and the performance of credit risk rating agencies in relation to Americanas.
