Manaus (AM) – Primavera de Museus, an annual event coordinated by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), will carry out activities in various cultural spaces of the Amazonas State Government. Lasting a week, the action takes place between the 18th and 24th of September, at different times.

The event takes place annually in the week in which the spring season begins, and its main objective is to promote, publicize and value Brazilian museums, in addition to increasing the number of visitors to the institutions and intensifying the relationship between museums and society.

In this edition, the programming will have the theme “Memories and Democracy”, which seeks to rescue and bring visibility to the history of indigenous peoples, quilombolas, and also the LGBTQIAPN+ community. The premise is to use the past to address relevant issues and use them as a form of reflection and dialogue for the public.

“Museum Spring is an opportunity to talk about our human capacity to talk about what has gone, live in the present and, at the same time, learn lessons for the future”,

points out Aline Santana, director of the Museums Department.

The 17th Spring of Museums is an initiative of the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), and receives support from the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy.

In addition to activities in the cultural spaces of Manaus, there will also be programming at the Magüta Museum, a space that belongs to the municipality of Benjamin Constant (1,121 km from the capital of Amazonas).
