Creation of formal jobs totals 180 thousand and doubles in January

The comparison of numbers with years prior to 2020, according to analysts, is no longer appropriate, because the government changed the methodology. “I believe there is an important starting point for the economy this year. Let’s look at February, but I believe February will also come with important numbers. I’m sure it will be a good year for the economy, for jobs and wages”, said the minister of Work, Luiz Marinho. At the end of January 2024, according to official data, Brazil had a balance of 45.7 million formal jobs. The result represents an increase compared to December of last year (45.5 million) and January 2023 (43.6 million). Sectors Caged figures for January 2024 show that formal jobs were created in four of the five sectors of the economy.
