Covid: Public 50+ runs to receive reinforcement on the 1st day – 04/26/2023 – Health

The public over 50 years old took advantage of this Wednesday (26) to go early to the UBSs (Basic Health Units) to get vaccinated against Covid-19, on the first day of the reinforcement with the bivalent Pfizer released for this public.

The Ministry of Health released vaccination for this entire age group the population on Monday (24). each state and municipality, however, is free to define which groups can receive the doses for now.

Due to the lack of doses, the São Paulo City Hall announced on Tuesday (25) that immunization was only released to the public over 50 years old. Other capitals, such as Rio de Janeiro, have already authorized the vaccination of the entire population over 18 years of age.

Ana Cristina Martins, 57, was one of those who made a point of going to UBS Bom Retiro, in the central region, early in the morning.

“The vaccine is a guarantee for the person, the vaccine comes first. I am not 100% immune to Covid, but I am immunized. It is a matter of responsibility for each human being. We need to think about ourselves and think about the whole of population. We must campaign for the next one,” he said.

César Lee, 51, criticized people who can be vaccinated but have not received the shots. “Prevention is important to avoid problems, stay in the hospital, and not affect anyone”.

Security agent Edvaldo João, 59, is one of the people who do not give up the vaccine.

“The only resource you have to avoid a more serious problem is the vaccine. My wife got it. She’s a nurse and she didn’t have the full vaccination. .

Management Ricardo Nunes (MDB) claims he received an additional 161 thousand doses to expand immunization in the city.

“Our network is structured to vaccinate the entire population with the bivalent Pfizer dose, we have 470 UBSs prepared to carry out the immunization. As there are more than 9 million people over 18 years old in the capital, we will expand vaccination as we receive new lots”, said the secretary of Health in São Paulo, Luiz Carlos Zamarco.

The Government of São Paulo announced that it will begin, also this Wednesday, to distribute 600 thousand doses of the bivalent vaccine against Covid-19 to the 645 municipalities of the state. The amount is insufficient to meet the target audience of 23 million people across the state.
