Covid: 480 deaths and 15,922 cases in 24 hours – 01/19/2023 – Health

Brazil recorded 480 deaths and 15,922 cases of Covid-19 this Thursday (19). As a result, since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has lost 696,148 lives and 36,713,006 cases of the disease.

The expressive number of deaths from Covid-19 is due to the fact that the state of São Paulo did not disclose this information for 11 days; the Secretariat of Health alleged problems with the system of the Ministry of Health.

The moving average of deaths is now 128 per day, down 3% from two weeks ago. The average number of cases is 15,762, down 23% compared to the same period.

Acre, Amazonas, Espírito Santo, Santa Catarina did not register deaths from the disease in the last 24 hours.

The data for the country, collected until 8 pm, are the result of a collaboration between Sheet, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disseminate numbers related to the coronavirus pandemic. The information is collected daily by the consortium of press vehicles with the state Health Secretariats.

In all, 182,593,872 people received at least the first dose of a Covid vaccine in Brazil. Added to the single doses of Janssen’s vaccine, there are 172,854,767 people with both doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine.

Thus, the country already has 85% of the population with the first dose and 80.46% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine.

So far, 108,109,512 people have already taken the third dose, and 39,987,842, the fourth.

With regard to children, 15,890,503 first doses (60.14%) were applied in the age group from 3 to 11 years and 11,065,982 second doses (41.88%).

The initiative by the consortium of press vehicles occurred in response to the actions of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins about the disease and removed information from the air, with the interruption of the disclosure of total cases and deaths.
