The Brazilian labor market had a positive balance in February of 241,700 jobs created, according to data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed released earlier this Wednesday afternoon (29) by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. Also called New Caged, the survey pointed to a drop of 31.56% compared to February 2022, when the balance was 353.2 thousand jobs (see in full).

According to the Ministry, job creation in February was positive in all 27 federation units and in four of the five major groups of economic activities in the country, with emphasis on the service sector, which generated 164.2 thousand jobs.

Next comes general industry (40.3 thousand), construction (22.2 thousand) and agriculture (16.7 thousand). On the other hand, the trade sector lost 1,300 jobs.

Still according to data from Novo Caged, the average admission salary in February was R$ 1,978.12, a slight increase of R$ 17.63 compared to the same month of 2022. However, the remuneration of a new employment fell R$ 50.15 from January to February this year.
