Container terminals in Santos and Pará have a drop in February – 05/03/2023 – Panel SA

February was a month of low movement in the port terminals managed by Santos Brasil. The volume of containers handled on the quays where the company operates was 24.1% lower than that recorded in February 2022. In storage, the drop was 26.5%, and 41.9% in the volume of general cargo.
In comparison with the same period last year, only Tecon (Container Terminal) in Imbituba, in Santa Catarina, recorded a 57.5% increase in the volume of containers that passed through there.
The volume of general cargo, however, was negative by 37% in the annual comparison, according to data from the operational preview registered by the company on Friday (3) at the CVM (Securities Commission). Santos Brasil’s fourth quarter results conference call is scheduled for March 22nd.
At Tecon Santos, the drop was 26% compared to February 2022, considering full and empty containers. The container terminal managed by Santos Brasil in the port of Santos is the largest in Latin America.
In Barcarena, in Pará, Tecon Vila do Conde registered a drop of 24.9% in February 2023 compared to the previous year’s result.
