Company announces installation of battery factory for electric cars in PIM

Grupo Moura intends to invest in the production of batteries for electric cars, among other products

Manaus (AM) — The effects of the text approved at the end of last year, in relation to the Tax Reform — which maintains the benefits and competitiveness of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM) until 2073 — continue to attract large investors to the Amazon. This week, it was Grupo Moura’s turn to announce the installation of a factory in the Manaus Industrial Complex (PIM) to produce batteries for electric cars, among other products.

The proposal was presented this Thursday (11), at Suframa, during a meeting between the portfolio holder, Bosco Saraiva, and the directors of Grupo Moura, Moacyr Freitas (People and Organization) and Eduardo Abath (Finance). They spoke about the company’s expansion projects, which do business in Pernambuco and São Paulo, and the prospects for new ventures in the Western Amazon, attracted by tax benefits.

Another novelty, scheduled to be implemented in the capital of Amazonas, is the Energy Storage System. The idea is also in the study phase and must be implemented through a research, development and innovation (RD&I) project, with resources coming from the IT Law.

The high tax burden that currently affects products manufactured in Pernambuco also motivated the interest of businesspeople to come and see ZFM and even locate areas of the city to install the manufacturing plant.

“We are in the study phase and have already hired a consultancy to assist us with the issue”,

said director Moacyr Freitas.

Superintendent Bosco Saraiva highlighted the Moura Group’s initiative and highlighted that Suframa has “open doors” to welcome all those who plan new businesses in the region, with the creation of opportunities, more jobs and investments in research.

“The business community’s arrival here with us is in line with one of our management’s proposals that are put into practice every day at Suframa, that is, to facilitate the progress of the process, reduce bureaucracy and also restore confidence to our employees. Our technicians are on hand to receive projects, analyze them and provide appropriate action so that they can be executed in the most transparent way possible”,

highlighted Bosco Saraiva, who participated in the meeting, accompanied by deputy superintendents Waldenir Vieira (Development and Technological Innovation) and Leopoldo Montenegro (Projects).

Reference

The Moura Group was created in 1957, in the city of Belo Jardim (PE), and with it Baterias Moura, which today is a reference in the accumulator segment in South America. The project was an initiative of the chemical engineering couple Edson Mororó Moura and Conceição Moura.

In addition to the battery business, the corporation also operates in the area of ​​civil construction and promoting social entrepreneurship.
