City Hall injects over R$ 2 million to promote the samba sector in Manaus

Manaus (AM) — The Municipality of Manaus, through the Municipal Foundation of Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult), made public, on the last 5th, the result of public call notice n.º 020/2022, granting financial support from the administration municipal public for the execution of a parade of the Samba Schools of the special groups “A” and “B” in the Carnival of 2023.
Of the 22 proposals entered in the event, 18 were approved and four were rejected. As of this Friday, the 27th, the foundation will contact, individually, the legal representatives of the associations to sign the “Term of Collaboration”. The result of the public notice is available for consultation, in the “Edicts” tab of the website: manauscult.manaus.am.gov.br.
“There will be more than R$ 2 million to promote the samba sector in the city of Manaus. Manauscult has already disclosed the names of the associations qualified to receive the financial support. As of this Friday, January 27th, we will enter the phase of signing the collaboration term and later on the phase of payment of the associations. It is important to highlight that, as determined by Mayor David Almeida, we adjusted the financial transfer by more than 20%, which had not been updated for more than five years”,
highlighted the director-president of Manauscult, Alonso Oliveira.
The State government, through the Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy, the body responsible for the parades of the Special Group and Access Groups A and B, launched, on the 19th, the schedule of the parades of the samba schools that make up the Carnival 2023.
The presentations of the Special Group associations will take place on February 18th and those of the Access Groups A and B, sponsored by the City Hall, on the 16th and 17th, respectively, at the Manaus Convention Center, the Sambódromo, located on Avenida Pedro Teixeira , in the Flores neighborhood, in the Midwest area of the city.
Public notice for financial support to samba schools
Public Call Notice nº 020/2022, launched by the Municipality of Manaus, through the Municipal Foundation of Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult), on November 8, 2022, allocates financial support of R$ 2,229,541, 60 for the parade of the Samba Schools of Manaus of the Special Groups, “A” and “B”, in the Carnival of 2023.
Qualified carnival associations will receive financial support that is divided into three categories totaling up to 26 samba schools. Category 1 – Special Group up to R$ 133,052.56 per Samba School, the group being composed of eight associations, totaling up to 1,064,420.48; Category 2 – Group “A” Samba Schools: up to BRL 79,112.80 per Samba School, the group comprising nine associations, totaling up to BRL 712,015.20; Category 3 – Group “B” Samba Schools: BRL 50,345.10 per Samba School, the group comprising nine associations, totaling up to BRL 453,105.90.
The foundation also carried out an online public consultation on the draft of the “Support Notice for Samba Schools”, the initiative, of an advisory nature, intended to democratize and improve public cultural policies in the city. Subsequently, the public notice was open for 30 days to receive proposals from the samba schools.
Parade
The official presentations at the sambodrome begin on February 16, with the samba schools of the Access Group B: Unidos da Coophasa, Unidos da Cidade Nova, Legião de Bambas, Mocidade de Ipixuna, Meninos Levados, Império do Mauá, Leões do Barão Açú, Balaku Blaku and Gaviões do Parque 10.
On the 17th, the schools of Access Group A: Academicos da Cidade Alta, Beija-flor do Norte, Dragões do Império, Mocidade Independente do Coroado, Mocidade Independente da Raiz, Império do Hawai, Sem Compromisso, Eastern Tradition and President Vargas.
On the third and last day, February 18, it is the turn of the associations that make up the Special Group: Vila da Barra, Unidos do Alvorada, Andanças de Cigano, Reino da Liberdade, Mocidade Independente de Aparecida, A Grande Família, Cousins from the Island and Victoria Regia.
