Central Bank will inaugurate new directors next week

The Central Bank scheduled the inauguration of economists Paulo Picchetti and Rodrigo Alves Teixeira as directors of the institution for next Tuesday (2). Appointed by the government, they were approved by the Senate plenary on the 12th to occupy their positions. Teixeira will take over as Director of Administration and Picchetti will be the new director of International Affairs and Corporate Risk Management.
In a note, the president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, also announced a change in the designation of the Collegiate Board. As a result, from the 2nd, the Director of Administration, Carolina Barros, will occupy the Directorate of Relationships, Citizenship and Conduct Supervision. She will replace Maurício Moura, who ends his term on December 31, 2023.
Initially, Teixeira would go to the Relationship Department. “The change, promoted in full accordance and with the unanimous agreement of the entire Collegiate Board, complies with the provisions of the Internal Regulations of the BC”, highlighted the monetary authority. Picchetti and Teixeira’s terms run until December 31, 2027, but may be renewed for another four years.
Professor of Economics at Fundação Getúlio Vargas in São Paulo, Picchetti holds a PhD in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Teixeira is a career civil servant at BC, has a doctorate in Economics from the University of São Paulo (USP) and held a professorship at USP and the Pontifical Catholic University.
