Camila Queiroz and Diogo Almeida live a romance marked by disagreements in the soap opera ‘Perfect love’: ‘It’s special’, she says

The paths of Maria Elisa Rubião (Camila Queiroz) and Orlando Gouveia (Diogo Almeida) cross in São Paulo, in 1934, in “Perfect Love”, Globo’s new soap opera. A student bar is the place for this first exchange of glances. Marê is studying Administration and Finance, the only woman in the class. Orlando is a doctor and is about to complete his residency at Santa Casa de Misericórdia. Both from Minas Gerais, the two fall madly in love, without having the slightest idea that their families have ties much older than that meeting.

The only daughter of businessman Leonel Rubião (Paulo Gorgulho), Marê is in every way the portrait of her mother, the late Maria Eugênia (Karen Marinho), the only one he truly loved, which makes her father obsessed with her. Despite being physically similar, Marê and Eugênia are very different. Unlike her mother, Marê is shrewd and very independent. She managed to overcome her father’s resistance and went to study in São Paulo. Back in Águas de São Jacinto, Leonel insists on keeping her under his control, wanting to force her to marry Gaspar (Thiago Lacerda), son of the mayor of the city, Anselmo Evaristo (Paulo Betti), in exchange for her taking over presidency of Grupo Rubião, the same position claimed by Gilda (Mariana Ximenes), his stepmother. But Marê has other plans: she is in love and wants to marry Orlando. A love that she will also dispute with Gilda, after surviving a trap set by the terrible villain. From the fruit of her love with Orlando, Marcelino (Levi Asaf) will be born, for whom the heroine will spare no effort to get him back, since the day she gave birth to her son she had to leave him.

“Marê is very special in my life because, in addition to being a character I’ve never played anything like, it’s a great challenge. We are talking about a young woman who breaks all the barriers of society, the behavior of the time, being very faithful to her values, her essence and what she believes is right. She is a woman ahead of her time, willing to live a great love, and very resilient with everything that will happen in her life and it will not be easy. She doesn’t give up, she runs after love, runs after her son, and then we’ll see this woman mature and it’s going to be really cool to be able to follow that”, highlights Camila.

The mismatch between Marê and Orlando occurs at the moment when the doctor, in an impulsive gesture, decides to walk away from her when he falls into a frame by Leonel to separate the two. To make things worse, Orlando discovers that, in the past, Leonel and Virgílio (Christovam Neto), his father, were partners and that Leonel wrongly accused him of a coup, in order to favor Anselmo. As a result, Virgílio and his family were expelled from Águas de São Jacinto, when Orlando was still a child. Orlando then decides to study in Canada in an attempt to forget his beloved. Unsuccessful in the purpose, he returns to the city, eight years later, in search of Marê and then discovers all the martyrdom suffered by her and the hitherto unknown son.

“I am very excited about the soap opera. The telenovela is being written and directed with a lot of love and care. I get emotional every chapter and I believe it won’t be different with the people who will follow the plot. I believe the audience will root for Orlando. He is a resilient man, who continues to pursue his dreams and will do everything in his power to save and win back his great love”, says Diogo.
