The president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Rita Serrano, announced this Tuesday (4th) a new line of credit for people with disabilities. This public will be able to finance wheelchairs, prostheses, hearing aids, among other equipment, within a period of up to 60 months.

The announcement took place at the inauguration of the new members of the National Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Conade). According to Rita Serrano, the line should be launched later this month and will lend from R$ 5,000 to R$ 30,000 for the purchase, maintenance and repair of assistive technology products and services.

Interested parties may apply for credit directly at Caixa agencies. The installments can be paid in up to 60 months (five years).

Coordinated by the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship, the credit line will have lower interest rates than the market, with a subsidy from the federal government. The rates will be 6% per year for those who earn up to five minimum wages and 7.5% per year for those who earn between five and ten minimum wages.
