Purpose of the project is to encourage academics to delve into literature and philosophy
Manaus (AM) – The 1st Philosophical Journalism Café opens this Thursday (31/08), at 7 pm, in the mini-auditorium of Unit 2 of Fametro, at Avenida Constantino Nery, nº 3000, Chapada neighborhood, central-south zone of Manaus.
The event, open to the public, will have the presence of the writer and poet Tenório Telles, with the theme “The importance of literature in the training of journalists”.
Organized by students of the institution’s Journalism course, the objective of the project is to encourage academics to delve into literature and philosophy, among other topics, for professional development. On the occasion, Tenório Telles will share his experience in valuing local literature and how this can generate opportunities for future professionals.
The event will discuss topics such as the relationship between journalism and literature, the importance of reading in building critical thinking and the influence of books on personal and professional development. Scholars will also have the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas with the writer, further enriching the debate.
For Fametro Journalism student and creator of the event, Fabrício Mendes, books are essential for journalists. “Tenório Telles was the first person who gave me a book in my life when I was only 13 years old. After all, one cannot think of being a journalist without a deep love for books. Without books, without reading, we will be empty human beings and professionals without prominence in the market”,
affirm.
The coordinator of the Journalism course, Leila Ronize, highlights the importance of bringing this representation of Amazonian culture to the students.
“The 1st Philosophical Journalism Café intends to be a success and make it clear that reading is fundamental for the formation of good communication professionals. The initiative of Fametro students is to show that it is possible to unite academic knowledge with culture and literature, generating opportunities for learning and reflection for all”,
stated.
The professor of the Journalism course, Angela Muniz, emphasizes that the guest of the first meeting has a lot to contribute to the students due to his training and experience.
“It is a pleasure to have you with us, “drinking from the source”. As Professor Wellington Amorim said, literature is yesterday’s newspaper. Newspaper because it brings details, it updates us, it informs us. ‘Of yesterday’ because literature usually describes a period that has gone. I invite and wish all journalism academics to this great philosophical café”.
