Cade (Administration Council for Economic Defense) must disapprove this Wednesday (10) the purchase of Grupo Smile by Hapvida.
Most of the directors did not see remedies for the case that showed excessive market concentration in Paraíba and Alagoas – where the group invests more efforts.
Hapvida announced that it acquired Smile Saúde for BRL 300 million in February last year.
The operation was forwarded to Cade’s court with an opinion on the veto of the operation given by the General Superintendence, which instructed the process
Hapvida manages 160,000 health plan members and operates three hospitals in the main locations where Smile operates. The acquired group operates in some states, primarily in Paraíba, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte.
