Businessmen who traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa, to follow the events of the Brics summit this week, intend to take to former president Dilma Rousseff, now in charge of the Brics bank, an appeal for the expansion of financing of energy projects clean in Brazil.

According to Ricardo Alban, president-elect of the CNI (National Confederation of Industry), the entry of new countries could change the scenario.

This year, the main theme of the summit, which takes place from Tuesday (22) to Thursday (24), is the expansion of the bloc (today formed by Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa), which studies the candidacy of countries like Argentina , Saudi Arabia, Cuba and Iran.

Known as the Brics bank, the NDB (New Development Bank) which today has eight members (United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Bangladesh, in addition to the five original countries of the bloc) has already advanced in negotiations with the oil giant Saudi Arabia to admit her as a new member of the institution in recent months. Argentina has also expressed interest in joining the NDB.

“In the Brics bank, there are budget quotas for the five countries. We may even have a changed reality with the entry of new countries. Thus, there would be an increased capital structure due to a new reality. Brazil lacks lines of financing competitive. We have a high cost to acquire these resources in the country, which does not happen in the case of China. Brazil cannot miss the window of opportunity of the green economy”, says Alban in a note.

Industry representation at the event takes place through Cebrics (Business Council of the Brics), which brings together more than 20 companies from the bloc’s countries, such as Vale, Banco do Brasil and Embraer.

The meetings of Cebrics members in South Africa started on Saturday (19). The business representatives intend to close a document with recommendations from the private sectors of the countries involved to be delivered to the heads of state at the end of the meeting.

For the CNI, which occupies the executive secretariat of the Brazilian section of Cebrics, one of the priorities under discussion by the private sector is the establishment of a multilateral agreement on air services. The entity assesses that bilateral agreements, which govern air services between territories, are restrictive.

The CNI also mentions, among other priorities, the harmonization of regulatory standards for manufactured products in order to facilitate their incorporation into value chains. A Cebrics meeting with Russian peers is also planned to discuss cooperation possibilities in the fertilizer and biofertilizer sector.

In the meeting already held with the Indians, this weekend, it was defined the formation of a business forum in the next six months to exchange experiences and technological learning in areas such as Brazilian sustainable energies and Indian digital services.
