Brazilian women treat menopause as taboo, link it to old age and are unaware of treatments, says research

According to medical specialist Dr. Beatriz Tupinambá, women undergoing adequate treatment have greater heart and brain protection
Research carried out in 2022 states that more than 30% of Brazilian women relate menopause to old age, and more than half of them still treat the subject as taboo. The postgraduate professor in Gynecology at Unirio and gynecologist, specialist in the Science of Human Longevity and Hormonal Modulation, Dr. Beatriz Tupinambá (@drabeatriztupinamba), has been working for years to demystify issues related to menopause.
For Beatriz, with knowledge and adequate professional assistance, menopause tends to be the best phase for women, and cites advantages such as the end of menstrual cycles, PMS, concern about the fertile period, greater time for self-care, maturity and homonyms administered as some of the benefits.
“We also need to work on the psychology. Look at menopause from another angle and realize that yes, menopause can be the best phase we can live through. We enter menopause halfway through our lives, and we don’t need to remain unwell during the second half of it, with hot flashes, hangovers, a drop in libido, among others, because we simply stop feeding our cells with hormones for 50 years”,
he said.
An advocate of hormone replacement therapy as one of the main methods for menopause, Dr. Beatriz reaffirms that for more efficient and satisfactory results, the ideal is for treatment to begin during menopause. In 2023, in Brazil, only 50% of women will use any treatment during menopause.
Despite its scientifically proven safety, many women still resist the method. A culture has been created that says hormones are bad, meaning that many women, due to fear or lack of knowledge, do not benefit from the results of hormone replacement therapy.
“The heart, for example, has more than 500,000 receptors for sex hormones. When you take hormone replacement therapy, you have heart and brain protection, and reduce the chance of developing diseases such as Alzheimer’s, hypertension and diabetes. With replacement you live longer and better”,
explains.
Also the creator of the Ressignifique Method, Dr. Beatriz, seeks through it to instruct, clarify, liberate and mainly facilitate the lives of women who are in climacteric and menopause.
There are more than 60 recorded classes that cover everything most modern on the topic. How and what treatments are recommended, lifestyle, sex, libido, homonyms, food, supplementation and much more.
