Brazil reaches 1,020 deaths from dengue – 04/03/2024 – Balance and Health

Brazil reached 1,020 deaths from dengue this Wednesday (3), according to the Ministry of Health’s Arbovirus Monitoring Panel. The country has another 1,531 deaths under investigation and 2,671,332 probable cases of the disease recorded in 2024. Throughout last year, the country recorded 1,079 deaths from dengue.

On Tuesday (2), during an interview with journalists, the Ministry of Health stated that Brazil is experiencing a period of decline in the dengue epidemic. In seven states and the Federal District, the peak has already been reached and the disease curve is now decreasing. Another 12 federation units are stable. But seven states, especially in the Northeast, have a tendency for cases and deaths to increase.

The states with an upward trend in cases are Alagoas, Bahia, Maranhão, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe.

The drop, considered consolidated by the ministry, occurs in Acre, Amazonas, Espírito Santo, Distrito Federal, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Piauí and Roraima.

Amapá, Ceará, Mato Grosso, Pará, Paraíba, Paraná, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Rondônia, Rio Grande do Sul and Tocantins are stable.

As of this Wednesday, the state of São Paulo has recorded 198 confirmed deaths from dengue and 383 under investigation. There are 410,944 confirmed cases of the disease.
