As of this Thursday, July 27th, Curitiba will have a new “square” on the corner of Comendador Araújo, Ângelo Sampaio and Batel Avenue. This is Boteco Boa Praça, famous point in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, which now arrives in the capital of Paraná, bringing more color and Brazilian flair to the local gastronomic scene.

Inspired by bohemian Rio, Boteco Boa Praça, from the Alife-Nino group of bars and restaurants, has been successful in the cities where it is present, offering happy hour with live music and a neat menu of pub food, in a modern and cozy environment.

The eighth Boa Praça unit in the country and the first in the South region, the Curitiba branch is located in the heart of the Batel neighborhood, in a 444 m² property, which has already been the headquarters of other gastronomic ventures. After an investment of R$4 million, the house was completely revitalized to receive Boteco Boa Praça, starting with the sidewalk, which now replicates the iconic Copacabana sidewalk.

The beach atmosphere extends to the interior of Boteco Boa Praça, decorated in a contemporary rustic style and with elements that exude Brazilian flair: beach sarongs, chandeliers made from beer crates, colonial lampposts, Senhor do Bonfim ribbons, trickster hats, bottle caps, guitars and plants everywhere. “Each detail of this house was carefully thought out, because Curitiba deserves a place like this, relaxed and welcoming”, says Luiz Zornig Neto, partner and local representative of the group in Curitiba.

Under the motto “uncomplicated food”, the cuisine at Boa Praça prioritizes Brazilian ingredients and recipes, all under the national command of award-winning Italian chef and entrepreneur Rodolfo de Santis. The menu features classic bar food options, such as the filet parmigiana appetizer, the rib fritter with catupiry, the feijoada broth and a portion of pastries with assorted flavors. On Saturdays and Sundays, from noon onwards, Boa Praça serves all-you-can-eat feijoada for R$49.90 per person. Meats in parrilla complete the menu, which also offers salads, wraps, sandwiches and dishes for children. In the future, local delicacies such as jaguar meat and barreado should inspire exclusive snacks at the Curitiba branch.

Like every self-respecting bar, cold draft beer is a guaranteed presence at Boa Praça, which has a state-of-the-art beer cooler, developed by Ambev’s innovation area, with a refrigeration system and nine taps. The variety is repeated in the drink menu, which brings several options of caipirinhas in the pot and gin and tonics, wines, sparkling wines and combos. Open from Tuesday to Sunday, Boa Praça also offers live music every day, focusing on MPB, samba and pop rock.

Created in 2021, after the merger of the operations of the Alife Group — from the bars Tatu Bola, Boa Praça and Eu Tu Eles — and Famiglia Nino — from the restaurants Nino Cucina, Da Marino, Forno da Pino and Madame Suzette —, the Alife-Nino group, until then, concentrated efforts on the Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo axis.

The arrival of the group’s bars and restaurants to new states — including Paraná, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Mato Grosso do Sul and Ceará — is part of a bold expansion plan for the brand, which at the end of 2021 received a contribution of R$ 100 million from XP Investimentos to expand its business across the country.

Currently responsible for almost 50 establishments of its 15 brands in Brazil, the Alife-Nino group intends to further expand the network — by the end of the year, the forecast is that 12 more units will be opened. Betting on expansion, the brand expects to exceed revenues of BRL 500 million in 2023, an increase of 66% compared to the BRL 300 million registered in the accumulated of 2022.

“The arrival in Curitiba is part of our network’s organic expansion plan, which remains strong this semester. Whenever we choose a city, we consider how much we will contribute to its development, generate jobs and provide more entertainment for residents. Our goal is always to serve everyone with quality and excellence, offering a democratic, welcoming product that is just like Brazil,” says Alessandro Ávila, CEO of the group, which currently employs more than 1,500 people.
