Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and deputies from his party will have what is being called a decisive meeting on the proposed tax reform this Thursday (6).
On Tuesday (4), the party released a note signed by the former president with harsh criticism of the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) of the reform and signaling a vote against the text in the Chamber.
Deputy Luiz Carlos Motta (PL-SP), who was the rapporteur of a reform proposal in the Bolsonaro government, says that it will be easier to defend the current text if the rapporteur Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB) agrees to modify some points of the text, looking for the proposals made by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).
“A decisive meeting is scheduled with members of the Liberal Party, in order to study in detail the position of the acronym around the future tax reform”, says the deputy.
“In cases as complex as this one, caution is better than regret. We are, therefore, on hold, awaiting the conclusion of the report to be presented by the rapporteur.”
The acronym has 99 deputies and may jeopardize plans to advance the proposal this week.
One hour before the PL meeting, a meeting is scheduled between the governor of São Paulo and the former president.
After meeting with the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, this Wednesday morning (5), Tarcísio admitted withdrawing from the main criticism he had been making of the text of the reform: the creation of the IBS Federative Council.
