Bolsa Família 2023: average amount in June is BRL 705 – 06/17/2023 – Market

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) signed a decree on Friday (16) that regulates the Bolsa Família program, relaunched by the federal government in March.

With the payments of the new amounts foreseen, the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight against Hunger states that the average benefit received by each family will be R$ 705.40.

The average benefit value, when the program was launched, in early March, was R$ 606.91. Until last month, the average benefit was BRL 672.45

The decree was published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union, on Friday night (16). It provides for the main rules of the program, such as the amount of benefits and the income range to receive transfers from the federal government.

With the publication of the decree, the new amounts announced by Lula during the launching ceremony will be added. According to the document, Bolsa Família will serve families in poverty, with a family income of up to R$ 218.

Each family must receive at least R$ 600, which had been a promise of Lula’s campaign. The government will pay R$142 per family member, but there will be a supplement so that the minimum of R$600 is reached when the sum of the individual amounts is lower.

The decree also maintains the payment of R$ 150 for each child up to seven years old, a benefit that started to be released in March.

With the publication of the decree, an additional R$ 50 is also included in the calculation of the benefit for pregnant and lactating women and children and adolescents from 7 to 18 years old who are in school. This amount had already been announced by the Lula government in March, but it would only start to be paid in June.

The average value of R$ 705.40 is the highest in the history of the income transfer program. However, it is slightly below the estimate of government technicians at the beginning of the year, who estimated the value at around R$ 715.

The Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight against Hunger announced that the benefit will be paid in June to 21.2 million families. The total amount passed on by the government reaches approximately R$ 15 billion, which is also the highest in the history of the income transfer program.

The increases in values ​​will make it possible for 9.8 million families to receive more resources in June than in May.
