Resolution published by the Central Bank this Wednesday (25) removes the regulation of food allowance cards from the jurisdiction of the monetary authority, informed the municipality, adding that the measure will enter into force in March.
The rule removes these instruments from the Brazilian Payment System (SPB), which, in practice, reduces the requirements and restrictions currently in force.
The rule announced this Wednesday is based on laws passed in 2021 and 2022, which gave equality between these aids and benefits from the Worker Assistance Program (PAT), which was no longer part of the SPB.
According to BC, the measures are expected to contribute to the existence of a balanced, more competitive and efficient payment ecosystem.
“With this, conditions improve for the expansion of the universe of companies that offer this service and the development of new business models, benefiting both commercial establishments that accept this means of payment, as well as workers”, he said.
The change does not produce an immediate practical impact for the workers who receive these benefits.
