Importance of culture

The lecture-show takes place this Saturday (24), from 2 pm, at the Comfort Hotel Manaus

Manaus (AM) – A chat filled with music and dance. This is the purpose of the lecture-show that will take place this Saturday (24th), starting at 2 pm, at the Comfort Hotel Manaus, located in the Industrial District I. Given by professors from the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam), Paulo Ricardo Freire (better known like Paulinho Kokay) and Landa Camargo, the lecture has the theme “Art, Life and Mental Health”, addressing the importance of art for well-being.

Founder of the Project “Seus Males Espanta” (which makes use of art and dance as a path to the process of humanization) and of the movement “Life asks for life… come back to dream” (permanent campaign for the prevention of suicides and in favor of appreciation of life), Landa points out that the main objective of the event is to show the power of art in people’s lives.

“Art has an incredible power to heal and express our feelings and emotions. It is an essential therapeutic tool in promoting mental health, whether through dance, music, or painting”,

Specialist in Early Childhood Education and Development from the Cândido Mendes University (Rio de Janeiro), Master in Education from the Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies (Portugal) and PhD in Education from Ufam, the pedagogue and dancer comments that the lecture-show will be divided into three moments: two of them for reports by each speaker and one for interaction with the audience.

“In the first, I will present my story and others that dialogue with it, showing the strategies that I have been building over almost five years to be able to ‘scare away evil’ [referência ao projeto que ela desenvolve]. In the second moment, it will be Paulinho’s turn to give his account. In the third, we will interact together: he will sing and I will dance along with the audience”,

details.

Musician and psychologist, Paulinho emphasizes that he will take to the stage an exhibition of how music came into his life, how it mobilized him in adolescence and adulthood and how it was important in his development and overcoming challenges.

Graduated in Pedagogy and Psychology from Ufam, Master in Education from the Methodist University of Piracicaba (São Paulo), Doctor in Education from Ufam, with a Post-Doctorate from the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon (Portugal), he explains that art can serve of help in controlling emotions, which start in childhood, but become more intense in adolescence.

“When emotions arise, the child does not have the capacity to process them, understand them, conceptualize them and control them, for not having developed these skills in the brain. They are established in adolescence, precisely the phase in which emotions enter in a very intense way. So, at that time, art serves as a balance tool. It is very important in the context of knowing how to deal with emotions”,

Interaction with the Public

Paulinho and Landa intend to make the chat a fun and comforting experience, with artistic interactions with the public.

“The musical show will feature a presentation of songs of my own that represent moments of overcoming, of suffering. I turned these occasions into music and I want to show how this act of composing or singing is therapeutic, both from the point of view of those who produce it – as in my case – and from the point of view of those who listen. Sometimes songs are life lessons”,

adds professional singer-songwriter.

In tune with Paulinho’s songs, Landa will dance along with those present, showing how she found the path to healing in this kind of art.

“I experienced depression twice and it was precisely art that mobilized me and made me learn to manage my emotions better. Art has that power. Dance, in my case, mobilizes the best of me and transports me to another universe where pain is transmuted into joy”, he reinforces.

Under the investment of BRL 40, registrations for the lecture-show can be made through the Sympla platform (Registered participants will receive a certificate of three (3) hours.
