Initiative boosts tourism in the region

Manaus (AM) — The Government of Amazonas, through the Amazonas State Tourism Company (Amazonastur), carries out a technical visit to the Igapó-Açú Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS) between February 20th and 23rd. The action is in partnership with the State Secretariat for the Environment (Sema) and aims to carry out a survey on the tourist potential and the needs of service providers in the region.

During the visit, the Amazonastur technical team seeks to identify tourist activities that are already carried out in communities for guidance and training of tourist products for the RDS, which covers the municipalities of Borba, Manicoré and Beruri. Also part of the action is raising awareness among service providers about the Registry of Tourist Service Providers (Cadastur).

For the head of the Department of Products and Projects at Amazonastur, Raíssa Tavares, the initiative enhances tourism in the region.

“With this technical visit, Amazonastur will approach inns located in communities in RDS Igapó Açu, taking the opportunity to survey the region’s tourism potential and meet demands necessary to improve tourist activity, such as qualification courses aimed at tourism”,

highlighted Tavares.

RDS already has inns in three communities, which focus on handicrafts, community-based tourism, sport fishing and work aimed at preserving turtles.

In addition to the communities that have tourism as a source of income, RDS also works with the objective of preserving nature and ensuring the necessary means to improve the quality of life and exploitation of natural resources, one of which is through tourism.
