Amazonas Dance Festival runs until September

Manaus (AM) – Until Saturday (09/02), the 11th Amazonas Dance Festival (FAD) will carry out activities, including lectures, workshops and shows, at Teatro da Instalação, Gebes Medeiros, Palacete Provincial and Largo de São Sebastião, in addition to the Centro de Convivência da Família Father Pedro Vignola. Public access is free.
The Amazonas Dance Festival is held by the Government of Amazonas, through the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy and the Amazon Agency for Cultural Development (AADC), with co-production by the Permanent Dance Forum of Amazonas (FPDAM).
In this edition, FAD presents 16 shows. And today (28/08), the program takes place at Teatro Gebes Medeiros (avenida Eduardo Ribeiro, 937, Centro), with “Trouxas”, by Iessa Ferreira, at 3 pm; and “Peito Vermelho”, by Benner Siqueira, at 3:30 pm. At Teatro da Instalação (Rua Frei José dos Inocentes, Centro) there are works “Perenal”, by Gleice Medeiros, at 6 pm; “Curupiara”, by Bianca Marques, at 7 pm; and “Yellow Manga”, by Lucas Rocha, at 8 pm.
Tomorrow (29), the Teatro da Instalation receives the public for the presentation of “E Se”, by Will Cruz, at 6 pm; “Lunária”, by Cia Expressão & Vida, at 7 pm; and “Vozes do Silêncio”, by Entrecorpus Companhia de Dança, at 8 pm.
The Padre Pedro Vignola Family Living Center (Rua Tupinambá, Cidade Nova) is the meeting point on Thursday (31/08), from 7 pm, for the first phase of the Battle of Breaking. The final is scheduled for Friday (1st/09), 8 pm, with a prize of R$ 1,000 for the winner while second place takes R$ 500.
Also on Friday there is FAD em Cena, at 5 pm, and the show “Oná”, by Eduardo Cunha, at 7 pm.
On Saturday (02), the Amazonas Dance Festival will occupy Largo de São Sebastião, downtown, with the closing ceremony at 6 pm. The evening’s script includes a presentation by the Corpo de Dança do Amazonas (CDA), dancers Ana Mendes, Marcos Vinicius, Maria Gomes and the production of Cia Ballet da Barra, “Fragmentos Villa-Lobos”.
Lectures and workshops
This week, the Provincial Palace (Praça Heliodoro Balbi, Centro) will host the FAD’s program of lectures and workshops, as well as dialogues with the contemplated groups and experiences with the dance representatives honored in this edition.
The experiences began this Monday morning (28), with Miguel Maia; and continue with Dirley Duarte on Tuesday (29), from 10 am to 12 pm; and Adalto Guilherme Xavier Gil on Wednesday (30), from 2 pm to 4 pm.
And tomorrow (29) there will be a dialogue with the recipients from 1 pm to 2 pm; and on Wednesday (30/08), from 10am to 11am. Josimar Maciel leads the Tuesday workshop, from 2 pm to 4 pm, with “Classical Dance for Contemporary Bodies”. On Wednesday (30), from 1 pm to 2 pm, there will be a lecture by Leo Scantbelruy, who will talk about “Art, autonomy, transgression”.
Suzana Cláudia is coming with the workshop “National popular dances: maracatu and musical instruments”, on Thursday (31), from 1 pm to 3 pm.
On Friday (1st), the workshops are on account of Juca Di Souza, with “Scenography and Dramaturgy for Dance”, from 10 am to 12 pm, and Francis Baiard, with “Process of Creation of the Autonomous Artist”, from 2 pm to 4 pm . Elizete Tikuna takes over the cultural space from 1 pm to 2 pm, with the lecture “Art, body and indigenous artistic performance”.
On Saturday (02), from 1 pm to 3 pm, the company Artigo 5 Cia de Dança runs the “Urban Dances” workshop.
