Amazon Theater Festival: Registration open for workshops and drama competition

The 17th Amazon Theater Festival (FTA) is open for registration for training activities and a dramaturgy competition that will make up this year’s program, to be held from October 7th to 15th. The selection notices, part of the non-competitive Ednelza Sahdo exhibition, are available at the link

The FTA is made possible by the Federal Culture Incentive Law – Rouanet Law, via the Ministry of Culture, presented by Nubank and organized by the Amazonas Theater Federation (Fetam), with the support of Weg and the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy.

“The State Government, in partnership with the Amazonas Theater Federation, results in another edition of the festival which, among so many opportunities for the artistic class, contributes to the training of performing arts professionals and to the strengthening of the cultural sector”,

says Marcos Apolo Muniz, holder of the Culture and Creative Economy portfolio.

The workshops and competitive exhibitions, reinforces the secretary, are in line with the training proposal and generation of opportunities in the segment.

“The initiative allows theater groups from Amazonas, professionals and amateurs, to meet in an exclusive exchange, which dialogues with the arts and culture of the North region”, he said.

Training actions

The workshops must have a total workload of eight hours, spread over up to three days, at the Barravento Cultural Center (Rua Jonathas Pedrosa, 1166, Praça 14). The fee is R$2,000, per training action.

Artists and groups that develop activities and research throughout Brazil can register. Proposals must have a relevant theme and be linked to the artistic research carried out by the artist, group or company.

To register, it is necessary to present the title of the workshop, description of the activity and methodology, brief CV, target audience, appropriate number of people to make better use of the content, technical needs and photo for publicity.

The deadline for registration is Monday (25th) and the results will be published on the Amazonas Theater Federation website (www.fetam.com.br), on September 29th.

According to the president of Fetam, Cleber Ferreira, the training actions come to encourage the professionalization of artists, with opportunities to learn new techniques or improve methodologies, in this exchange process, since the workshops are open to people from outside Amazonas.

“This year, we launched the notice for registration of workshops for anyone interested in sharing their knowledge, techniques and experiences during the festival, in addition to experiences in cultural spaces on the outskirts of Manaus, uniting theater makers”,

says Cleber Ferreira.

Also according to the president of Fetam, this edition continues cultural mediation, a project started last year, which expands the experience of watching a theater play into an experience.

“Public school students, workers at the Manaus Industrial Pole, and the community in general will be invited to participate in the festival within the FTA”,

says Cleber.

Contest

The dramaturgy competition aims to stimulate writing, value creative aspects and break the genre, through the production of texts for theater, to highlight the scenic art of Amazonas. Artists from Amazonas who develop activities and research in dramaturgy in the state can register until September 30th.

Drama proposals are free-themed and must include the title of the text, pseudonym and the drama in PDF format.

The five selected texts will make up the collection “Amazonas Dramaturgia”, which will be published in digital and physical format, respecting copyright requirements. The books will be made available on the Fetam website for an indefinite period of time while physical copies will be available at the federation’s headquarters.
