State company is proposing to increase fuel across the country
In the early afternoon of Thursday (4), the Secretary of State for Energy, Mining and Gas, Ronney Peixoto, together with the executive secretary for Energy and Gas of the Secretariat of Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti), Marco Villela, met with the CEO of Cigás, Heraldo Câmera, and the institutional relations officer at Petrobras, Marcelo Ramos, in which they discussed alternatives so that Amazonas is not impacted by the national increase in Natural Gas, proposed by the state-owned company.
At the meeting, it was agreed between the parties that the value practiced until then will be maintained, while discussions between the state government and Petrobrás are ongoing, which should happen over the next 30 days.
The Amazonas Gas Company buys the gas produced by the state-owned company and distributes it in the state. The contract between Petrobrás and Cigás for the non-thermal segment was signed in 2006, where one of the clauses gave the right to the state-owned company to readjust the price of NG in the 17th year of the contract. This adjustment is based on the price of fuel oil, which would lead to a 400% increase in the current price and would directly impact consumers who use the fuel in industries, businesses, homes and vehicles.
“Since 2006, the natural gas scenario in Amazonas has changed a lot. So, as determined by Governor Wilson Lima, we started this dialogue with Petrobrás so that, together, we can reach a fair value for the Amazonian consumer”, said Semig secretary, Ronney Peixoto.
