Manaus (AM) – The publisher Valer and the Academia Amazonense de Letras are honored to announce the launch of the book by the poet, journalist and member of AAL, Aldísio Filgueiras: MANAUS: COMO SE DIZ, COMO SE VÊ. The event will be held this Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 10 am, at the AAL headquarters, on Rua Ramos Ferreira, 1009, Centro de Manaus.
The work, in its 239 pages, contains poems about the city of Manaus and, according to Vinicius Alves do Amaral, PhD in History from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF): Aldisio Filgueiras opened a path amidst the thicket of doubts and traps, forging a unsettling expression. An expression that is itself pregnant with questions, dreams and harsh truths. A kaleidoscope that is pure vertigo, like its muse: Manaus.
Still according to the historian, ‘Manaus: how it is said, how it is seen’ addresses many themes, but its greatest merit lies in the relationship that the author establishes between two topics: barbarism and desire.
“Yes, barbarism, our old acquaintance. But at the same time there is something different: she has lost her face. Her silhouette is no longer recognizable: is she the colonizer or the importer? Nor is its address known: is it the industrial district?”
he wrote.
In the midst of the “field of strangeness”, the poet founds a free zone (oops!), where memory and imagination do not need to be imported. In this sense, Filgueiras sows enclaves that are not only possible but also necessary.
For the editorial coordinator, professor with a PhD in Philosophy and author of the book ‘Para aquém e para Além de nos’, Neiza Teixeira, Aldisio, always uncomfortable with events, as the good journalist he is, brings in his poems denunciations about the Amazonian capital that it was neglected with smoke from fires and lack of oxygen, for example.
“The poet Aldisio Filgueiras uses the city of Manaus as the raw material for his poetry. The poet writes about her in a harsh but enchanted way, seeking in her history the paths that were forbidden to them. Aldisio removes what was buried behind the walls of misunderstanding and ignorance”,
highlighted Neiza.
