Amazon Biobusiness Center will be managed by FUEA and will have more autonomy to raise public and private resources
Manaus (AM) – The Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC), Geraldo Alckmin, appointed the Secretary of Green Economy, Decarbonization and Bioindustry, Rodrigo Rollemberg, to chair the Administrative Council of the Amazon Biobusiness Center (CBA).
The choice was communicated by the minister in a letter signed on May 26, and sent to the president of the Fundação Universitas de Estudos Amazônicos (FUEA), Elias Moraes de Araújo.
With the nomination, Rollemberg will represent the ministry on the council set up to administer the CBA, which will no longer be linked to the Manaus Free Trade Zone Superintendence (Suframa), and will be managed by FUEA, a social organization qualified in a decree signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on May 3rd.
The conclusion of this transition depends on the signature of a management contract between the MDIC and the FUEA, which will take place shortly.
The ongoing change will give the CBA more autonomy to raise public and private funds, which will allow for the expansion of research activities, product development and business with natural resources from the Amazon.
Partnerships aim to guarantee the supply of raw materials at competitive prices to ensure the sustainability of both the businesses generated from the Amazonian biodiversity and the communities directly involved.
