One of singer Alceu Valença’s biggest hits, “La Belle de Jour”, gives its name to a new wine produced in the Tagus region, in Portugal, by Quinta da Atela. The label created for the artist, imported and distributed by Wine Concept Brasil, can now be tasted by Brazilians.

The wine is the result of a partnership between the composer from Pernambuco, Wine Concept and the winery founded in 1346, which today belongs to ValGrupo. “La Belle de Jour” hits the market in red, white and rosé options for R$79.90 per bottle. The creation was carried out by Portuguese winemaker Antônio Ventura.

The red wine version is obtained from a blend of grapes touriga nacional (30%), syrah (30%), castelão (20%) and alicante bouschet (20%), from a vineyard that is around 20 years old. It has a ruby color, aromas of ripe red fruits, notes of mint, with a smooth mouth and silky tannins.

The white wine is composed of Fernão Pires (40%), arinto (35%), sauvignon blanc (15%) and gewurztraminer (10%) grapes. It has an aroma that reveals notes of yellow-fleshed fruits, light, floral, some nuances of lychees, with a fresh and balanced finish.

“La Belle de Jour Rosé” was obtained from castelão grapes (100%) from an old vine that is 70 years old and has an open salmon color, has aromas of red fruits and small berries, with some fresh notes of mint.

The choice to give the label its title had nothing to do with the success of the song “La belle de jour”. The idea is also to pay homage to Jaqueline Bisset, known as the dancer from Boa Viagem beach, who would be Alceu Valença’s inspiring muse. The bottles can be found for consumption on the Wine Concept website.
