A confusion was created by a Canadian airline that confused Salvador with San Salvador to promote the Central American city.
OWG made a post on Facebook and Instagram talking about the capital of El Salvador with the aim of promoting the destination, which is one of the locations served by the company.
The company highlighted that passengers can “get lost in the vibrant streets of San Salvador, where history, culture and beauty converge to create a captivating atmosphere.” But the photo that accompanies the publication is not of San Salvador, but of two Bahian women near the historic Elevador Lacerda in Salvador, capital of Bahia.
OWG is a Canadian airline subsidiary of Nolinor Aviation, known for operating Boeing 737-200 jets on dirt runways, primarily serving remote communities and mining companies in Canada.
Like the parent company, it operates charter flights and seasonal operations to serve the tourist public, mainly targeting Caribbean destinations such as Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
The confusion was probably due to the name but it also demonstrated that the company does not know its destination very well, considering that there is nothing visually similar in the Central American city.
