O Foz do Iguaçu went to court against Grêmio for non-payment of the economic rights of striker Pepê, sold to Porto, from Portugal, in 2021. Because of this, the president of the border club, Arif Osman, harshly criticized Carlos Amodeo, then CEO of the Tricolor gaucho at the time of negotiation.
The Foz director demands payment of the debt of around R$30 million for the transfer of the athlete, revealed at the Paraná club. In an interview with the Rio Grande do Sul press, Osman reported that Grêmio offered a payment of R$5 million, which was promptly rejected.
“If Grêmio fails to pay, the debt must go to FIFA. If Grêmio doesn’t pay Foz, they shouldn’t play in the Libertadores”, highlights the president of Foz. “Grêmio’s past administration, including Mr. Amodeo, are part of the same gang as these businessmen. Grêmio is not the one in charge of Grêmio, Grêmio is the one in charge of the businessmen who put players there”, adds the director, citing the current CEO of Coritiba.
In an interview with Rádio Grenal, Carlos Amodeo criticized the statements made by the president of Foz. “President Arif Osman’s interview is catastrophic, irresponsible and criminal. Just look at the reputations of the members of Grêmio’s management council and mine, and compare with the his reputation in the city. He will have to prove the accusations in court”, he concludes.
Foz is awaiting a response from the National Dispute Resolution Chamber (CNRD) so that the debt process can be accelerated.
