Present in more than 3,000 Brazilian municipalities, 99Moto, a category for transporting passengers on motorcycles, continues to grow and has already passed on R$1 billion in earnings to partner motorcyclists since January of this year. The result is a reflection of the popularity and democratization of passenger transport on motorcycles through the app, whose number of active users in the category has increased 10 times since its inception in January 2022.

In addition to more inclusive prices, the motorcycle transport category facilitates access to places such as narrow and/or steep roads that are not safely served by other vehicles. The service is also used as a complement to public transport, as a means of quick access to terminals and stations for integration with other means of transport.

Security

Since January 2022, when the category was launched, 99.99% of races have ended without safety incidents. Such a scenario is possible thanks to more than 50 tools made available to offer more security before, during and after trips, such as audio recording, 100% verification of passengers and route sharing. In addition, users have insurance policies on all races.

In addition to technological initiatives, 99 also focuses on raising awareness about measures for safer traffic and encouraging compliance with the Brazilian Traffic Code through the Community Guide. With the expansion of mobility options, 99 included specific guidelines for passengers who use motorcycles as a means of transportation, aiming to improve safety and user experience.

“Both passengers and motorcycle partners want to reach their destination efficiently and safely, in addition to enjoying technology in favor of quality of life. For this, 99 believes that safety, accident prevention and respect for traffic laws are fundamental. 99Moto partner motorcyclists regularly receive, through the application, educational materials, with explanations about traffic rules and defensive driving, aiming to promote safer driving”,

Access

99Moto enables passengers and partner motorcyclists to make trips with the support of a robust platform and recognizes the needs of Brazilians, expanding access to areas that, not infrequently, have greater barriers to access by other modes of transport, in addition to provide greater flexibility for the passenger to reach their destination. According to data from 99, an average of 66% of trips by 99Moto in February 2023 took place outside the richest regions in the main capitals where the service operates.

Porto Alegre is the capital with the most trips taking place outside the higher income regions, with 73% of trips being made in the outskirts. Next comes Rio de Janeiro, with 71%; Recife, with 66%; Belo Horizonte, with 64%; Manaus, with 63%; and Salvador, with 60%. For the analysis, data from these capitals were analyzed, with the criteria of income ranges defined by the IBGE.

According to Igor, 99Moto meets an emerging transport demand. “Many times the person needs to walk a considerable distance to the boarding point or lives in a place that is difficult to access. Riding a motorcycle makes everyday life easier and allows the passenger to integrate with another mode, including public transport. This access is the most democratic among the categories, for all and all”, he concludes.
