123 Milhas suspends issuance of promotional tickets – 08/18/2023 – Market

The 123milhas digital travel agency announced, on Friday night (18), the suspension of packages and the issuance of airline tickets for the “Promo” line, which offered prices below those practiced in the market. Customers who have already received a ticket, ticket or locator have guaranteed travel, according to the company.

123milhas claims that it will return the amount paid through vouchers, plus a monthly monetary correction of 150% of the CDI – a debt security negotiated between banks that accompanies the basic interest rate. Coupons will only be valid for other products on the site (air tickets, hotels or packages).

According to the agency, all other products for sale on its marketplace are delivered immediately and are not at risk of suspension. Coupons will be valid for 36 months after requesting a refund, which can be done on this website. The information is available in a public note released by the company at 123milhas.

On social networks, people complain that the value of the vouchers is not enough to buy tickets sold at market price, due to the promotional price of the packages.

The “Promo” line packages, in addition to being cheap, were flexible, as were the products offered by Hurb (formerly Hotel Urbano), which starred in the last major episode of problems with tickets and accommodation.

Hurb was the target of 11,000 complaints registered at Senacon (National Consumer Secretariat) in the first quarter of 2023, when owners of inns and hotels went public to complain about defaults on the travel platform. The level was close to the 12,000 complaints registered throughout 2022.

In May, the government determined that the Hurb (formerly Hotel Urbano) would suspend the sale of flexible packages – which do not have a date set for the trip, nor the definition of the airline or the places of accommodation.

In the same month, Latam suspended the issuance of tickets purchased by Hurb and filed a lawsuit against the travel platform to collect a debt of R$ 10.78 million.
