In August 2022, Globo Rural went to the far east of the city of São Paulo to show how a group of women has been guaranteeing healthy food for residents of the region. Women from the outskirts of SP transform a dump into an urban garden; review special report A landfill that became a fertile garden: this is one of the great achievements of the Urban Agriculture Group (GAU), which maintains a green space with more than 300 species in the neighborhood of União de Vila Nova, in the extreme east of the city of São Paul. The GAU is composed of nine women. They plant a little bit of everything mixed together: oranges with lettuce, with sugar cane, with cocoa, among others. Series ‘Where does what I eat come from’: salad takes a ‘bath’ with soap and can even ‘drown’ They work on two plots owned by CDHU – the Housing and Urban Development Company of the State of São Paulo – and earn around thousand reais per month.
