With watercolor, fine lines and sewing thread, artists draw live architecture and ‘people who bring life’ to The Town

Members of Urban Sketchers SP, a group of urban sketchers that operates in more than 50 Brazilian cities, have been spread across strategic points in the City of Music since last Saturday (2). (photo below) “I’ve already spent the weekend drawing the stage, the architecture. Today, I decided to draw the people who bring this wonderful place to life. We don’t even notice the time passing, I don’t know if it took 15 minutes, half an hour. It enters a mode of total abstraction in the drawing”, he explained. The delicate stroke would still be covered in watercolor. “It’s a very nice meeting of different techniques and people from different walks of life. I have a technique more focused on illustration, pen and watercolor painting”, she said. This is because the artist was embroidering a facade of Estação da Luz. “I like doing embroidery, the drawing is involved in the process. It involves two processes. Each one takes a take, I did it as if it were in elevation”, she explained. To make the work, she first sketches the scene, applies watercolor techniques and, as soon as it dries, finishes with the line (photo below).
