Country remains at the top of the podium for the 5th consecutive time. Argentina occupies the last position in the list of 40 countries. The Brazilian basic interest rate (Selic) has not risen since June 2022, but the country remains at the top of the global ranking of real interest rates, according to a survey compiled by MoneYou and Infinity Asset Management. In a decision this Wednesday (3), the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) of the Central Bank kept the basic interest rate unchanged, at 13.75% per annum. Discounting the expected inflation for the next 12 months – 5.32%, according to the BC’s Focus report – real interest rates stood at 6.82%. The rate is enough to keep the country at the top of the list, above Mexico, Colombia, Chile and the Philippines.
