It is no coincidence that, in recent years, products, mostly based on peanuts, from the company DaColônia are increasingly common on the shelves of markets and other specialized establishments. This is the result of a real revolution that, between 2020 and the end of this year, will demand R$ 42 million in investments. This year alone, the company from Santo Antônio da Patrulha will invest R$ 12.9 million in the purchase and installation of more modern production equipment. The information is contained in the 2023 Yearbook of Investments of Jornal do Comércio.
According to the director of the company, Willian Freitas, the goal is to reach the production of 21 thousand tons of peanut-based products per year by the beginning of next year. A volume 122% higher than the 9,000 that were produced until 2020. “Today we sell throughout Brazil, and we have the prospect of strong growth, with the opening of new markets within the country. strength of our brand and the quality that we have maintained in 60 years of production”, explains Willian Freitas.
The modernization, which receives investments this year, is the second stage of the changes implemented from 2020 by the company. Since then, the factory, in the Costa do Miraguaia region, has more than doubled its area, which previously occupied 9,000 square meters and now has 18,500 square meters. To give you an idea, the municipality of Santo Antônio da Patrulha had a positive balance of only 43 jobs in 2022. At DaColônia, last year it started with 481 employees, and jumped to 760 people, a total of 279 new employees. “In a short time, we will certainly surpass 800 employees”, evaluates Freitas.
The resource to be invested this year in the company is part of the R$ 22.9 million approved to receive benefits by Fundopem at the beginning of this year, and which already had R$ 10 million disbursed last year.
The machinery, according to the director, is all produced in Brazil, and is directed especially to the production lines of paçocas and peanuts. Inaugurated in 1962, DaColônia has more than 200 items in its catalogue. The company points out on its institutional website that all the products produced are based on the formulation of its own recipes and tested by quality control.
