Where to find Halloween themed food

Halloween only takes place on October 31st, but judging by the new menus in some cafes and bakeries in Curitiba, the witch is already loose and hiding in the kitchen! One of the most popular (and profitable) festivals in the United States, where it is a national holiday, Halloween is gaining more and more space in the Brazilian calendar. So much so that it is already considered one of the most strategic dates of the year for the sweets, drinks, decoration and costume sectors.

For those who appreciate the magical, sinister and fun atmosphere of Halloween – especially children and teenagers – Bom Gourmet has created a list of bakeries and cafes in Curitiba that have already incorporated the “trick or treat” style into their menus and decoration. Choose the scariest one and enjoy!

American Breakfast.Co

Until October 31st, American Breakfast.Co, specializing in classic North American cafeteria cuisine, celebrates Halloween with exclusive options inspired by the date. Among the highlights of the special menu is the Mummy Brownie – a “bandaged” and “bloody” chocolate brownie, with blueberry syrup imitating blood on the plate –, as well as black bread in all options that contain the ingredient.

Chelsea Burger

At Chelsea Burger, Halloween gives way to Wizarding October. Until the end of the month, the store is promoting a special with themed menu and decoration inspired by Harry Potter and the magical world of Hogwarts.

Among the drinks is the effervescent potion Smoky Fizzy Grape Juice – grape juice and dry ice served in a boiling laboratory flask. To share, the portion of Dragon Legs roasted chicken drumsticks is served in a mini iron cauldron, accompanied by special “dragon’s blood” sauce. The magic continues in desserts such as Caldeirão de Fogo, a vanilla-flavored popsicle served in a flaming cauldron, with brownie, dulce de leche, paçoca bran and chopped strawberries.

Chiffon Cake

The Chiffon Cake café has also gotten into the Halloween spirit. A themed decoration surrounds the entire store and the classic Strawberry Chiffon with Sighs has a very cute scary touch: sighs in the shape of little ghosts.

There are even Halloween-themed basket options on the store’s special menu. The Boo! Basket, for example, includes a Naked Chiffon Monster mini cake (individual), Blood Bag (raspberry nectar), handmade cookie and Halloween brownie, Italian straw, Mummy of the Day Pie, croissant with cheese and ham or cruffinas well as a commemorative card.

On the 28th, 29th and 31st of October, Chiffon receives visits from special characters to celebrate Halloween. Among them, Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe in their zombie versions, Wandinha, the enigmatic Queen of Hearts, the enchanting Corpse Bride and the powerful Maleficent and Harley Quinn.

Sucre Delicious

Completely decorated, the Délices de Sucre confectionery serves, until October 31st, a selection of more than 20 options including sweets, savory snacks and Halloween-themed drinks.

Among the special sweets are the Gateau Djanho (buttery base, coconut delicacy, pineapple jam and creamy coconut, covered in a velvety layer of white chocolate) and the Vela Preta (chocolate cake base, white chocolate mousse, buttery biscuit and Franuí – raspberries surrounded by white and milk chocolate – covered by a layer of semi-sweet chocolate).

There are also savory options, cold and hot drinks, as well as options for gifting, such as the Eye Candy Box – a little casket with three pieces of chocolate candy, white brigadeiro and eye-shaped dulce de leche.

Dóffee Donuts & Coffee

The Curitiba franchise specializing in donuts also included Halloween-themed options on its menu, valid until October 31st. The Cemitério Açucarado donut (filled with white brigadeiro and strawberry jam, covered in dark chocolate and Oreo) has a tombstone decoration, with a little chocolate coming out of the “earth”, just like in horror films.

Two drinks with special decorations are also available. The house’s hot chocolate became Witch’s Chocolate, with orange aroma, a hint of nutmeg and pumpkin-shaped marshmallow. A cold option, Magic Purple is made with blueberry puree, non-alcoholic blue curaçao syrup and sparkling water.

Go Coffee

For Halloween, the Go Coffee coffee chain relaunched the Secret Halloween Frappe, maintaining the grape flavor, but with a “creepier” presentation.

The Halloween Frappe is available until October 31st, at all Go Coffee locations.
