According to WhatsApp, the idea is to create an extra layer of privacy to make it difficult to access your confidential conversations if someone has access to your phone. “We believe everyone has the right to privacy, whether they are sharing their phone with someone else or are in a vulnerable situation and need additional protections,” the platform says.
