Warning note for delay in publication of CBD regulation – 08/22/2023 – Cannabis Inc.

In January, Governor Tarcísio de Freitas signed law 17.618/23, for the inclusion of CBD (Cannabidiol) in the SUS (Unified Health System) and then created the Working Group responsible for formulating the rules for access to the substance . The author of the legislation, deputy Caio França (PSB-SP), representatives of associations and researchers became members. This Monday, they released a note demanding the publication of the regulations, which should have taken place by May 1. “She is ready and approved”, says França.

According to the new rules, patients with Dravet Syndrome, Lennonx-Gastaut Syndrome and multiple sclerosis will be entitled to CBD. “Families waiting to receive the medication have questioned this delay. And, they are right, after all, life does not wait”, says França. He complains about the lack of positioning by the State Department of Health, which did not respond to the deputy’s various requests for information about the publication deadline.

The concern is that the São Paulo law of gratuity for CBD does not get off the ground. “The lack and delay in access extend the suffering of the patient and family, increasing exclusion and neglect”, says Cida Carvalho, founder of Associação Cultive, one of the members of Grupo de Cannabidiol, who signs the note. The publication of the regulation does not prevent the analyzes for the inclusion of other diseases from being included in a new stage. Therefore, the group asks for agility in the works that mainly involve chronic pain, an area with many scientific works on the effectiveness of CBD.
