Viviane Araujo talks about her son Joaquim’s first carnival, vanity and empowerment: ‘A new Vivi’

Joaquim will not pass even close to Marquês de Sapucaí this year. With only 5 months to live, the little one will stay at home under the care of nurses while mom, Viviane Araujo, gives another samba show on foot in front of the drums of Acadêmicos do Salgueiro, the fifth school of the Special Group to parade tomorrow.

— They’ve been taking care of him since my son came home when he was three days old. They’ve been with me all this time. So, I’m very calm. And it’s going to be quick: I go there, I parade, I stay a little bit and then I go back home — explains Vivi, 47 years old, praising her baby, the result of her relationship with businessman Guilherme Militão, 34: — Joaquim is a boy who cannot work. He sleeps well at night, I’ll be calm.

If it depends on mom, the boy will only know the sound of tambourines next year, when “he will be bigger, understanding more”. For now, Joaquim is already enchanted by the brightness and noise of Vivi’s carnival costumes:

— If I’m wearing an outfit that has a lot of movement, his eyes are wide open, because it makes noise, and he wants to touch it. I think it’s cute…

Considered the mother of all the drumming queens of the Rio de Janeiro carnival, due to her longevity in the post and the expression of her performance, Vivi now steps onto Avenida, in fact, experiencing motherhood — last year, she had already put on her baby bump after 4 months of pregnancy to “sapucar”, in the April fashion show. The beauty guarantees that if anything has changed, it has been for the better:

— My look at Carnival will always be one of passion, love, identification, delivery. It won’t change, it will always be that feeling. Would today be different because I’m a mother? It’s a look like that, with all that love and affection, but with much more happiness and fulfillment for being a mother today.

After giving birth, Vivi says she returned to her original weight quickly. And she claims to be fine with the mirror:

— I didn’t put on so much weight during pregnancy (it was 14kg). Of course, my body will never be the same, but I managed to maintain my pattern. I got some cellulite, but it’s okay, it’s okay. Without a doubt, I feel complete, happy and more comfortable with myself.

In addition to parading at Salgueiro, the carioca will also reign today at the head of the Mancha Verde drums, at the Anhembi Sambadrome, in São Paulo. Physical preparation for the carnival marathon began in December.

“That’s when I got back to working out and training, two months ago. I couldn’t do it the way I like it, as I’m used to, but I managed to look good and feel good. Emotionally, we are never prepared for that moment (of the parade). Emotion takes over and I will never be prepared. I’ll always be there waiting to feel something new — he confides.

On the eve of parading her beauty on the samba catwalks of São Paulo and Rio, Viviane decided to undergo a transformation in her look and changed her hair color. For those who want to be inspired, she replaced the blond hair with golden brown with the cream coloring of Cor&Ton, by Niely.

— I’ve had straight, wavy hair of many colors. Hair gives us a new lease of life, it helps with self-esteem. This moment of transformation is about meeting a new Vivi, mother Vivi — she highlights: — Hair is part of my personality. To transform it now is to celebrate a new cycle.
