Unroll will be aimed at families with debts up to R$ 5 thousand – 06/05/2023 – Market

The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said this Monday (5) that the Desenrola program, to help people in debt, will be exclusive to families who receive up to two minimum wages and have a debt of up to R$ 5,000.

The program is expected to start in July this year. The government estimates that around 30 million families could benefit.

“This guarantee is for families earning up to two minimum wages with debts of up to R$5,000. This represents something around 30 million people”, announced Haddad in an interview at the Planalto Palace. “It’s the maximum limit that the program can reach.”

The minister said that a provisional measure should be signed this week and that the program will only start next month, because “there are a series of bureaucratic measures to be taken until the opening of the creditors’ system”.

Haddad was optimistic about the program. “The program depends on the adherence of creditors, since the debt is private. But we understand that many creditors will want to participate in the program by giving good discounts precisely because of the liquidity they will obtain, because it will be guaranteed by the treasury”, he said.

“We are going to refinance for the debtor, but the creditor will not have to wait for the payment, he will be sure of receipt”, said the minister, recalling that the debts are registered until December 31, 2022, so as not to create a new default movement. “We are dealing with a program that deals with the pandemic. So, until the end of last year, the debts registered with Serasa, SPC and the like will be dealt with in this program”, he added.

The minister said that all public and private banks were consulted on the modeling of the program. “Our prediction is that the private banking sector will also participate in the program,” he said.

The creditor who wants to participate in the program will have to settle the debt of those who owe up to R$ 100, according to Haddad. “The idea is that he already removes the name of the SPC and Serasa to qualify to participate in the program”, said the minister, who estimated that there are 1.5 million Brazilians in this situation.
