Undergraduate initiatives encourage entrepreneurship in Manaus

Among the initiatives of Faculdade Santa Teresa are partnerships with organizations, community service actions and courses

Brazil is part of the ranking of the countries that most undertake in the world. The dream of owning your own business is even considered greater than that of developing a career in a private or public company, indicating that Brazilian society sees the alternative of entrepreneurship as the best and most rewarding form of professional activity. In Manaus, undergraduate initiatives stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit of the population.

An example in this sense comes from Faculdade Santa Teresa (FST), a higher education institution that has been operating in Manaus for almost five years and that has, in stimulating entrepreneurship, one of its main aspects.

The coordinator of FST’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, Joziane Mendes, observes that this incentive is a policy of economic development and social responsibility. “The Nucleus was created having as one of its pillars the training of students and professional guidance, either to develop their own businesses or stand out in companies”, she said.

She explains that entrepreneurial education is essential to bring knowledge and guidance on topics that make up the routine of entrepreneurs, which are of public utility to every entrepreneur who intends to maintain a business with profitability and social contribution to the country. “Initiatives like this need to be expanded and reach primary and secondary schools, involving students from early childhood onwards”, she assesses.

In addition to the Nucleus, among the initiatives of Faculdade Santa Teresa are partnerships with organizations, community service actions, courses and, mainly, promotion of events, such as the Entrepreneurship and Startups Exhibition.

Joziane Mendes, points out that the third edition of this event will take place, bringing together experts from the sector and should take place in the first half of this year.

“Continuing education also takes place through the production of content by professors, coordinators and students of undergraduate courses, who have qualifications and practical experience in the subjects. With this initiative, we seek to stimulate a multidisciplinary dialogue on entrepreneurship in the institution”, he highlighted.
