The Brazilian bars Tan Tan and SubAstor, from São Paulo, are among the one hundred best in the world in 2023. With one week to go until the announcement of the annual ranking The World’s 50 Best Bars, which chooses the 50 best bars in the world, was revealed this Tuesday on Friday (10) the extended list of establishments classified between positions 51 and 100.
Tan Tan, by chef Thiago Bañares and mixologist Alex Mesquita, this time reached 56th position on the list – in 2022, it was in 62nd and in 2021, in 87th. SubAstor, run by bartenders Fábio La Pietra and Alex Sepulchro, came in 58th place.
This year the list includes bars from 34 different cities around the world, led by the USA, which included six bars in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. “When we launched The World’s 50 Best Bars extended list, our intention was to highlight an even wider cross-section of the most exceptional destinations for cocktail lovers. Now in its seventh year, we are delighted to recognize the remarkable hospitality experiences offered by these establishments in 34 incredible cities”, says William Drew, director of content at 50 Best, in the official statement announcing the ranking.
One of several classifications that derive from the maximum ranking The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, the list of the best bars in the world is decided by a voting panel made up of 680 independent drinks experts, from renowned bartenders, educators and consultants, to critics and specialists in cocktails.
The list of the 50 best bars in the world in 2023 will be revealed in a ceremony that will take place on October 17th, in Singapore, broadcast live on YouTube.
